The awards keep coming for Cardrona Cabin. This time our ‘Chapel to Craft’ has been internationally recognised with a Gold A’ Design Award.
In one the world’s largest and most acclaimed international design awards, Abodo’s Cardrona Cabin has won a Gold A’ Design Award 2022 in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category.
A’ Design Award recognises exceptional design excellence which advances the benefits of society with a focus on innovation, technology, and creativity.
Cardrona Cabin is a showcase of what can be achieved when thinking differently about the built environment.
Designed to inspire others, Cardrona Cabin is a chapel to craft inside and out, with timbers sourced from rapidly renewable FSC® certified New Zealand plantation timbers that help to mitigate climate change by absorbing vast amounts of carbon, instead of using slow grown, imported timbers usually used to build premium homes and structures.
Demonstrating this, over 9 tonnes of carbon is stored from the Vulcan timber elements alone used in Cardrona Cabin.

“Good design deserves great recognition” is the statement encapsulating the A’ Design Award and Competition which boasts entries from 114 countries around the world across a wide range of design disciplines. Abodo is very pleased to be able to share this accolade alongside Cardrona Cabin’s accomplished design and build team partners, Assembly Architects and Dunlop Builders.
Abodo was proud to be part of the first New Zealand Pavilion at Design Show Australia, with visitors to our stand going in the draw for a Cardrona Cabin Stay.
Abodo are pleased to announce the appointment of Stevens & Co as an architectural cladding distribution partner in Belgium.
Many wish to reduce their environmental impact when building, and Abodo’s newest addition to the Vulcan Cladding range helps achieve this.
