Many wish to reduce their environmental impact when building, and Abodo’s newest addition to the Vulcan Cladding range helps achieve this.
The Vulcan Cladding range now includes two options; the original Architectural Series (now in its tenth year) and the new ‘Standard Series’.
Both the Architectural and Standard series are made from the same New Zealand grown, rapidly renewable Radiata. Both are thermally modified and engineered with Abodo’s patented vertical grain for enhanced performance.
What’s different is the grade of timber used for each product, and this means the new Standard Series is available at a more accessible price, and with a light natural character to its appearance. This light natural character includes some knots, resin pockets and other natural features present along with some clear lengths.
“The new Standard Series was created for a number of reasons. Now, we’re able to make better use of the log feedstock, essentially putting a different grade of timber to much better use. And this means we can offer high performance, sustainably manufactured timber cladding to more people.” – Sarah Buckley, Abodo’s National Sales and Specification Manager.
What’s the difference between the two options?
The introduction of Vulcan Cladding - Standard Series means more people can choose FSC® certified locally grown timbers over old growth products - allowing access to the wellbeing properties of timber for more families and workplaces.
Builders will notice the same light, stable properties in the Standard Series, with the same level of performance over time.
Currently only available for the New Zealand market, Standard Series is made from sustainably sourced timber grown in the central North Island, representing more choice for locals and a great way of supporting New Zealand-made.
Please note: all samples will be sent in Protector – Nero, unless otherwise requested

Abodo’s popular hidden fix system is now available with a ‘Standard Series’ WB18 profile, bringing greater flexibility to builds.
Encouraged by positive feedback from local and international timber joiners, Vulcan Joinery – Vertical Grain joins Abodo’s product range in New Zealand.
