Suzy is Abodo’s Central North Island Sales Manager.
Some 25 years ago when Suzy Brown entered the timber industry, there were few women in the field, but that didn’t stop her from holding her own at the mill or on bustling building sites.
In a key position at Carter Holt Harvey, she worked diligently to gain Sales Account Management training and a Timber Grading Certificate, while also accumulating bales of practical experience and timber knowledge.
All this – along with a can-do attitude and a down-to-earth personality – meant she was able to hit the ground running when she joined us as Central North Island Sales Manager in 2017.
Suzy is a key member of the Abodo sales team with a rich virtual rolodex of industry contacts and behind-the-scenes knowledge, which makes her truly at home working alongside builders, architects, merchants and homeowners.
Suzy covers around 1000km per week in her job, visiting building sites and businesses in the central North Island. She takes pride in seeing a finished home or commercial premise decked out in Abodo and knowing she played a role in making that happen, and especially enjoys hearing from architects who choose to specify Abodo products for their own homes. While she finds it hard to pick a favourite project, she sees the DCA Public Bathrooms at Leith Place, Tokoroa as an iconic landmark, an impressive feat for a toilet block!
Not surprisingly, Suzy envisions a bright future for thermally modified Radiata Pine, pegging its continuing success on the durability, sustainability and enhanced beauty of the timber.
Not one for standing still, she is passionate about making steps for continued improvement in both her work and family life. And both are equally action packed, with her daughter participating in Suzy’s former passion of competitive showjumping and her husband and son ensconced in the motocross world. One day, Suzy hopes to take a long break and travel Europe – but in the meantime, her life moves at a swift pace.
