Adorned in Vulcan Decking in Protector - Clear, the spacious poolside deck is a popular feature of this member’s club.
Located in the Pocono Mountains, Serenité is renowned as a place for families to enjoy the mountain air with well-appointed accommodations and resort-like amenities. Nearby hiking trails, ski hills and golf courses provide for enjoyment of the area in all seasons, meaning external materials need to withstand changing alpine temperatures.
When it came to designing the pool side deck, every detail was carefully considered to create an inviting, enduring space, the thermally modified Vulcan Decking was chosen for this high use area as a resilient, durable product with a reduced resin content, which means it stays straight and true through all weathers. With its reeded face, the decking is designed to resist water absorption and provide extra grip underfoot, making it a safe and lasting, non-slip surface.
The thermal modification process also means there is no need for chemical treatment of the timber, making it a great choice for families. The timber is pressure treated with a Red List-free, low VOC organic preservative (OPX), which includes a water repellent and insecticide for termite zones, furthering its lasting qualities and safety.
The clients preferred the authenticity of real wood decking, and the Forest Stewardship Council® certification of Abodo timbers also helped them to meet their sustainability goals. When it came to building the deck, Vulcan’s easy fix system with no pre-drilling requirements made for a quick installation, meaning guests were not left waiting for the deck area to be ready.
The timber reveals a warm, rich brown tone, adding an earthy depth to the space that will naturally silver off over time without losing its structural integrity. This helps it to merge beautifully within this breathtaking alpine environment, creating a special place for families to return to again and again for quality time spent together.
