With traditional barn references and a strong focus on sustainability, this kindergarten features Abodo’s eco-timber cladding and decking.
Due to a major roading project the kindergarten needed to relocate, so have now rebuilt in a development with views out to Matakana and the Kaimai Ranges.
The design and materials of the build were all carefully considered by Designer Andrew Ward of Mod Architecture - providing a contrasting palette of natural textures for the early childhood centre.
Andrew carefully selected materials for their non-toxic, chemical free, low VOC, sustainability and end of life properties ensuring a building that is sustainable, safe and as chemical free as possible - choosing Abodo’s eco-timber for the kindergarten’s exterior Tundra Cladding and Vulcan Decking.
“The main activity area was designed to reference a traditional barn while the opposing mono pitch form depicts the same in an abstract fashion. The building has been specifically designed to incorporate a high level of sustainability and energy efficiency for cost effectiveness”, says Andrew.
“We are extremely excited to have a brand new purpose-built kindergarten. This was a large project with a lot of dedicated passionate people behind it. The efforts and dedication of our kindergarten families, fundraising committee, the community and local businesses has been extraordinary” says Head Teacher Paula Osborn.
Please note: Tundra Cladding is no longer available. However, you can achieve a similar look in our Vulcan Cladding – Standard Series.
